Orblin.ai

Ten thousand job queries. Sub-300ms. Every answer grounded in real data.

Orblin.ai is an AI-powered job intelligence platform that helps candidates find roles matching their actual skills and experience. Not just keyword matches. We built the search infrastructure, AI query layer, and reliability systems that keep it fast under real load.

The starting point

Job platforms have a trust problem: candidates type a query, get a wall of results sorted by recency, and still can't tell which roles they'll actually get a response from. The founders of Orblin.ai wanted to change that: to build a platform where the search understood context, not just keywords. The technical challenge was significant: natural language job queries don't map cleanly onto structured job data, and the system had to stay fast and reliable as query volume grew. Early prototypes were accurate but slow. Slow meant bounce rates that killed the product before it could prove itself.

What we built

We rebuilt the search layer from scratch, separating the AI query understanding from the retrieval step. Queries were parsed into structured intent: role, seniority, location, sector, must-haves: before hitting the job index, which meant the retrieval step stayed fast and deterministic. We built a caching layer for common query patterns and a fallback path for edge cases that degraded gracefully rather than timing out. Reliability was a first-class concern: we set a sub-300ms P95 target on day one and instrumented every layer so the team could see where time was being spent.

What changed

Orblin.ai now handles over ten thousand queries with a 99.9% uptime record and a median response time under 300ms. Candidates get results that match their actual experience level, not just their most recent job title. The platform has room to scale without re-architecting: the query and retrieval layers can be tuned independently as the job index grows.
